Colliers International Charity Poker Tournament Raises $50,000

Links for Life fundraiser benefits Bay Area kids & families

San Jose, California – April 10, 2012 – Colliers International held its fourth Charity Poker Tournament at Villa Regusa in Campbell to benefit its charitable foundation, Links for Life California (http://www.linksforlifeca.com). Over $50,000 was raised for Links for Life, which provides grants to help local organizations that make a difference in the lives of Bay Area children. Since its inception in 2007, Colliers’ Links for Life Foundation has given more than $400,000 to 132 qualifying charities in the Bay Area.

Colliers’ brokers and their guests attended the popular tournament that included over 60 giveaways valued at more than $12,000 that were donated by Colliers brokers, their clients and tournament underwriters Vulcan Construction, Bixby Land Company, TICO Construction and Iron Construction. In addition, a Masters Golf Tournament trip for two, donated by Skyline Construction, was auctioned off for $11,000.

Kellam Nelson of Colliers’ San Francisco office was this year’s tournament winner, ousting Harvest Properties’ Blair Volkmann in a showdown. “It was a privilege and a pleasure to participate in the Links for Life Poker Tournament”, Kellam said. “Jeff Fredericks and his team do a wonderful job organizing the various charity events that they put on. As for the event itself, it was wonderful to be able to contribute to a worthwhile cause and to interact with my colleagues from each of the respected Colliers offices and other real estate professionals. I had a great time and can’t wait to participate again next year.”

Jeff Fredericks, Managing Partner of Colliers’ Silicon Valley office, commented, “I’m just blown away by all the positive feedback. It sure seemed like everyone had a great time.  When you can enjoy a few hours with friends and help a lot of people in the process, that’s a pretty good night!”
