Downtown Ice Rink Opens Nov. 16 in Downtown San Jose

Opening ceremony with Kristi Yamaguchi Nov. 23, 5:30 p.m.

SAN JOSE – Hawaiian Airlines / Kristi Yamaguchi Downtown Ice begins its 17th season overall and ninth in the Circle of Palms on Nov. 16. More than just an ice skating experience, Downtown Ice represents making memories and building traditions with family and friends.

“I am humbled and honored to be associated with this iconic rink,” said Kristi Yamaguchi, 1992 Olympic figure skating gold medal champion, who partners with her Always Dream Foundation and the San Jose Downtown Association.
With Hawaiian Airlines as title sponsor, Downtown Ice skaters have embraced the traditional “aloha” spirit of Hawaii. Skaters twirl and glide around circular outdoor rink and 32 palms that twinkle with holiday lights.

For those looking for a warmer experience, Downtown Ice and Hawaiian Airlines have combined on airfare discounts to the islands. Go to apps.hawaiianairlines.com/Affiliate/Booking.aspx

Yamaguchi describes Downtown Ice as “the best designed and most innovative outdoor skating rink I have ever seen.”

The rink is open daily through Jan. 13, 2013. Admission is $13 for children 10 and younger and $15 for everyone else, skate rental included.

A number of promotions are scheduled throughout the rink run. For example, on five Tuesdays, those who bring their own skates will skate for free.
