Pleasanton, Calif. — Best Workplaces for CommutersSM, a program designed to encourage sustainable transportation innovation singled out 28 award recipients nationwide Thursday, January 16th during the annual Race to Excellence Virtual Awards Ceremony and gave Hacienda a Gold Award as a Best Workplaces for Commuters Site. The awards recognize organizations who have taken exemplary steps to offer transportation options such as vanpool and transit benefits or telework and compressed workweek programs for their employees. To qualify as a Best Workplace for Commuters, applicants must meet a “Standard of Excellence” initially set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Over 400 organizations nationally have met this Standard of Excellence and are listed as Best Workplaces for Commuters.
This year participants were awarded in four categories: Site, Employer, Supporting Agency, and University. Hacienda was given a Gold Award in the Best Workplaces for Commuters Site category; the only location to do so in this competition.
“We are extremely proud of this recognition,” noted James Paxson, Hacienda’s general manager. “Hacienda has long provided a nationally recognized package of benefits for the people who live and work here and we are grateful for the acknowledgement made of these important efforts.”
“The annual Race to Excellence provides national recognition for employers, supporting agencies, sites and Universities who offer high level commuter benefits,” said Julie Bond, NCTR’s national program manager for Best Workplaces for Commuters. “Offering commuter benefits is a win-win situation for employees who change their commuting habits to save time, money and stress, and for employers who gain a competitive edge in employee recruitment and retention.”
