Braintree expands its headquarters to house growing staff and launches Menlo Park office to support innovation and be closer to tech clients

CHICAGO–Braintree (, the fastest growing payments platform for online and mobile commerce, announced today it has opened the doors of two new offices in Chicago and Silicon Valley. These new locations fortify Braintree’s national presence and provide ample space for its growing staff. The move further supports Braintree’s ability to attract top engineering talent and produce disruptive technology in the payments space.

“We’re staffing up quickly to meet the exploding market demand for our online and mobile payments tools”

Last month, Braintree relocated its headquarters to Chicago’s West Loop, part of the city’s central business district community. More than three times the size of Braintree’s former office space, the newly renovated Chicago headquarters will provide Braintree’s growing team an expanded and more central environment. The company currently has over 60 employees, with plans to expand to more than 100 employees by the end of 2012. Braintree is recruiting tech talent from both the Chicago and Silicon Valley area.

“We’re staffing up quickly to meet the exploding market demand for our online and mobile payments tools,” said Bill Ready, CEO of Braintree. “Braintree’s full-stack payment platform was designed specifically to make payment integration easy for developers. Because of this we’re attracting the nation’s top developers to work with us, enabling Braintree to continue to deliver solutions that ease developer pain points.”

Braintree also announced the expansion of its Bay Area presence with the opening of a new engineering office in downtown Menlo Park, California. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Braintree’s new Menlo Park office will offer Braintree proximity to its Bay Area based clients, a roster which includes many of the Valley’s most notable startups including Airbnb, GitHub, Uber, TaskRabbit, HotelTonight and Heroku among others.

“We wanted to have an on-the-ground engineering presence in Silicon Valley to be close by many of our fastest growing clients,” said Ready. “A number of our best product innovations have come in collaboration with our clients, many of which are in the Valley and among the hottest high-growth startups in the ecommerce and mobile space. Being in Silicon Valley will further strengthen the great feedback loop we have with our clients.”

The office will provide access to the entrepreneurial landscape of the Valley, allowing the company to better serve its clients and recruit talent while supporting innovation occurring across the region.
