NEWARK, Calif., – Colliers International recently brokered a long-term lease at 6601 Overlake Place in Newark. The former Staples facility owned by Prologis was leased by Futuris Automotive (US), Inc. (www.futurisautomotive.com), a leading automotive supplier in the cleantech, infrastructure and transport industries. With their US headquarters in Long Beach, CA, the company manufactures automotive parts for Tesla vehicles and has expanded into the Prologis Overlake Industrial Center to be closer the main Tesla Motors headquarters in Fremont.
The 160,000 square foot Class ‘A’ industrial facility situated on ±10.90 acres with visibility and frontage on Highway 84 is minutes from the I-880 Corridor. The building features ±35,000 square feet of office area, an ESFR sprinkler system, 27 dock-high doors, 1 grade-level door, 28’-32’ ceiling clearance, 2000 amps of power, 1 acre drop lot for trailer storage and has potential to expand to ±200,000 square feet.
This is the seventh lease transaction greater than 100,000 square feet completed year-to-date on the I-880 Corridor and also the third new lease transaction completed this year. “Leasing momentum for large warehouses has picked up significantly in the first quarter and we anticipate the trend to continue into the remainder of the year,” said Greig Lagomarsino, SIOR, Executive Vice President of Colliers International who represented the Landlord in this transaction along with Mark Maguire, Senior Vice President, and Kevin Hatcher, Senior Vice President of Colliers’ Oakland office.
